Family history covering the BROWN family from the parish of Bonhill in Dumbarton, Scotland to Australia. Henry Stuart arrived in Sydney on the Bermondsey in 1848 & set up a general store in Wattle Flat, Hill End. He had no issue but several of his siblings & their families also came in the late 1860's. Cousins, twin brothers Thomas & James Brown arrived in Queensland on the Montmorency in 1862 & Prince Consort in 1864 respectively.They eventually settled in Balmain establishing an engraving & die-sinking workshops in Sydney. In New Zealand other Brown descendants arrived at Port Chalmers on the 'Pladda' in 1861 & Bluff, Invercargill on the 'Robert Henderson' in 1863. Associated names include STUART, HAMILTON, MUNROE, SMITH, BREMNER, WILSON, STEWART, YOUNG, GALBRAITH, MILLER , DAVIDSON, BRETT, FERGUSON, FOSTER, GILES, GOW, GRANGER, HAMILTON,JONES, McCARTHY and SMITH.
