Summary:
|
The index to settlement certificates provides name, reference, date & parish of settlement. The index to non-settled poor provides name, poor law union of settlement, relief paid between, parish of residence or name, parish of settlement, payments made between & poor law union of residence. Non-settled poor refers to residents of the the above parish who did not have a legal settlement there. Non-resident poor had a legal settlement in one of the Croydon Union parishes but lived elsewhere and relief was paid to them by the local board of guardians to be reimbursed by Croydon Union.
