Sources are the Apprenticeship Books of the Inland Revenue, now in the Public Records Office and cover indentures upon which duty was paid. Two sets of records: Kent city or town registers (duty paid in London); and country registers where apprenticeships were entered directly at London. Such records do not include apprenticeships for "love & affection" or "services to be rendered" that is on which no duty was paid. Masters are listed alphabetically with running numbers, trade, apprentices, source reference. Apprentices: gives where apprenticed, trade of master, reference number of master. Includes an index of places that shows also masters and trade for each place.
