These fiche provide an alphabetical list of prisoners in Durham Gaol awaiting trial at Durham Quarter Sessions or Durham Assizes from 1 July 1861 to 4 April 1871 and are from documents in Durham County Record Office.
In addition to details of the crime, information such as age and occupation is often shown. The names of the alleged victims are also included.
A list of judges and committing magistrates follows on.
An introduction is provided together with an explanation of the abbreviations used.
