Notes: The wages paid to orpahans index contains 612 entries comprising Irish orphan girls, their employers and other relevant persons mentioned in the records and notes their status, event date, the event itself, the location of the event if it was noted, the source reference, the ship when given, and any other additional information. It has been compiled from Archives Office of New South Wales source: 'Wages paid to orphans, 1849-51', 1 volume (4/4676) with cross references or additional entries where applicable to AONSW source: 'Particulars of orphans monies, 1850-51', 1 box (part) (9/6173.6). Unclaimed letters index contains 2,790 entries from lists of unclaimed letters published by the Postmaster General in the NSW Government Gazette. In may cases, as well as the addressee, the published lists included the expected locations of these persons in NSW and other colonies. Many of them also noted the ship of arrival of the addressee or their current (or late) regiment. Unemployed index contains 494 records compiled from State Records NSW: Immigration CGS5274 ; Registers of unemployed 1860, 1884 2 vols. (4/4677, 4/4687). This index lists the name, age occupation, marital status, date of interview, address, the State Records of NSW reference, ship of arrival, where given, and other information.
