Summary: "In this book I focus on my mother's paternal line - the Singleton, Campbell, Dines and Blaxland families of the Hunter Valley. Through following these family lines to my grandfather, John Neil Campbelll (1904-1980), I want to both develop a better understanding of part of my family history and of the place whose recent history they helped make. This is one settler family story over just about the entire period of European settlement in Australia; a story of how an early convict family on the Hawkesbury in the 1790s became an early settler family in the Hunter Valley in the 1820s, joined with other Hunter Valley settler families through marriage, and how some then found themselves back in Sydney nearly a century later."
