Summary:
|
The DARVALL family arrived in New South Wales in 1839. These letters, written to cousins in England, describe in detail their experiences on the voyage out and their impressions of Sydney and the hinterland. The letters report the vicissitudes of their lives in their first ten years as settlers in Sydney and the bush and provide a fascinating picture of life in the colony in the 1840s.
