"Our first "Sydney Colonial" was John Pontifex, but before documenting John and his family I am including all that is known of our last fully resident London Pontifex ancestors: Russell and his wives Elizabeth and Sarah. This also provides continuity to the documented Pontifex family history as Russell is mentioned in the books written by Edmund Lionel Pontifex in 1886 and 1926 (SAG Library N6/PON/2 Villa Stack). - From the Preface p. vi.
