Summary: This book is about one of the buildings that played a major role in the story of Charters Towers. The building was constructed in 1887-1888 as an arcade of shops, The Royal Arcade, by a successful Scottish migrant, Alexander Malcolm. In 1890 the arcade became the venue for the Charters Towers Stock Exchange.
