Summary: In 1836, the population of Parramatta was 3,600, of whom 1,150 were convicts. In the subsequent one hundred years, Hay believed that apart from the four lodges functioning in Parramatta in 1936, those being Resurgo, St George, St John and Temperance, there had at one time or another, been five others.
